Week 4

  • How is Sprint 2 progressing? As a team how are you functioning now you have a scope and deadline?

Sprint 2 is so close, literally due Monday 14th March! As a team, we are scrambling quite a bit. Many of us are available at different times, and are just trying to find any time we can meet. We’ve found that we will maybe call one other person, or message, and have mini calls to figure out stuff. For example, Garvi would message me, and we would work on some documentation together, and clarify things together. Or, I would message Josh and ask for some help in debugging my code.

Now that we have an approaching deadline, the team is putting more effort in. Poor Edward did not know it was due Monday, and we were trying to contact him. He then worked super hard after he found out :))

We had issues earlier in the week, such as crazy weather. Most of our team could not come to the tutorial, and we had to have a meeting online.

We’ve managed to get the email sending, with error checking. We also have a working database I think! And a rickety CI+CD but it’s getting there

  • How well do you think you planned for this sprint? What hasn’t gone to plan, and why?

I did not plan well! I was in charge of creating issues in Sprint 1 and assigning them. I did not take into account what we realistically could achieve, and did not assign proper workload to everyone. For example, I assigned Garvi things like sending emails to multiple recipients. This was outside of the spec and we decided that this was not needed in our product.

Edward and Garvi ended up having to add many more issues as the team gathered a more technical understanding of what was required in the project.

We also did not achieve our goal of having an MVP by the first week - however, this was okay as the overall goal was to have an MVP by the end of the Sprint. Although it was a bit of a race getting all the code and documentation together, I believe we did everything that was required.

  • With all this rain it’s easy to forget that the sun and blue sky are still there hidden away! Share a nice photo of a sunrise or sunset from your camera roll. Here is Nick’s one - a photo of a sunset in Broome, WA.
