week two

How is Sprint 1 going? Have you run into any challenges or learning opportunities so far?

Sprint 1 is going semi ok! While we’ve had a lot of shaky ground in finding out what we actually need to do (as a product), and hence a lot of trouble with our requirements, the group has been working quite well together. We’ve had good team meetings, even outside of our formal weekly ones, just to work together and chat (on discord or messenger).

I’ve been learning how to keep the team on track! I’m usually happy with being led, and just doing whatever, and being told to get back on track. However, in this team dynamic, I’ve discovered that I have slightly more project experience, and am taking a more initiative. This is foreign but a great opportunity. The team role I have is being a team leader, and I’ve been learning how to manage people, track + delegate, and make team decisions.

I’ve also been learning a lot using Jira/Confluence! My only previous experience was Gitlab, but it’s been really great being able to organise pages, epics, issues etc. I especially love that we can include story points and epics (on Gitlab we just used labels for that).

The biggest challenge is not knowing what our project wants, especially from our portion (invoice sending). It has been quite vague (not blaming our tutor! Max has been sending questions for us to clarify). Just the time delay of that was also worrying as we had many questions + still do and will continue to have.
